Review of Phil Ochs: There But for Fortune (2011) by Jason M — 30 Apr 2011
Fantastic, long-overdue documentary about the life and music of Phil Ochs, one of the greatest voices and songwriters of the 60's folk music scene, and the last real American troubadour. Bowser combines excellent rarely-seen archival footage of Phil's performances and interviews with vivid and frank recollections from friends, fans, colleagues, and family members to paint the clearest picture of the artist seen since even before his death.
Phil's words are as true now as they were fifty years ago, and his conviction no less inspiring.
