Review of Phenomena (1985) by Alan M — 03 Apr 2009
Although not as good, violent, or colourful as Suspriria or Deep Red, Phenomena is still a good Argento flick. It is also probably one of the most original and weirdest horror movie I`ve ever seen.
Argento chooses a great cast that stars Jennifer Connely, Donald Pleasance, and of course Daria Niccolodi. For the most part the acting is good especially Donald Pleasance. The characters in this movie are extremely well thought out and creative.
The killer could have been a little more vicious like in Tenebre or Deep Red but he was a good character as well. This movie is actually pretty creepy in certain parts especially when Jennifer Conelly`s character is in the pool of maggots and body parts.
Overall this is a good Argento movie but it drags in certain parts. Don`t expect a masterpiece because it`s not Suspiria but it is a good movie.
