Review of Phenomena (1985) by Zacho D — 15 Sep 2012
SECOND VIEWING: What the hell was I talking about before! This is great stuff! Crammed with lots of surprises and a fantastical dream like sensibility to the film, this Argento outing is another classic that you cannot miss!
FIRST VIEWING: Two thirds through this movie, I was going to give this one a fail, but then youve got the crazy monkey wth motorhead and iron maider thrown in randomly and the ending with the monkey was predictable, but its what I really wanted and it was so great, probably the highlight of the film for me. Also the whole scene at the lady`s hous was good too. Overall I`m giving it a pass, but so far out of the Argento films I`ve seen, this is by far the worst and really doesn`t seem like an argento film as apposted to a cheezy insect 80`s sci fi flic. The only thing thats Argento style in this one is the use of the monkey because he always like to use animals in his movies to usually kill people. Overall, a bare pass, but honestly, if your going to watch this movie, just skip ahead to where donald peasence is killed and the monkey goes after the killer. From that scene on its right epic! SCORE: 6 out of 10.
