Review of Phenomena (1985) by Guillaume H — 04 Jun 2014
Thing with Argento; he often realise beautiful visions and has a strong esthetic, energetic and broad, but his characters he writes are toilet paper thin and his dialogues are 6th grade schoolplay worthy, while the plot has many intereesting elements that gets no development and are forgottent like bad tv.
Now jennifer Connelly; she would go on to become a solid actress but as a teenage one she was incredibly leaden, inexpressive and stiff. At least it fits the dreamy quality of the filming. Id give 4 for the visual compositions but the weaker aspects brings it down a full mark to a 3, along with the soundtrack that is sometimes brilliantly spot on but too often laughable.
