Review of Phantom of the Opera (1943) by Haytham K — 05 May 2012
This 1943 version has more opera than Phantom, but Claude Rains gives a fine and sympathetic performance as the disfigured composer who worships a young and talented soprano. The colors are intensely brilliant in a way that only a 1940s Technicolor movie could achieve.
