Review of Peter Pan Live! (2014) by Jonathan M — 13 Feb 2015
So I'm a Peter Pan purist. And this is one of my all time favorite musicals. So I had high hopes. But after seeing this............attempt I must say this was more of an ego project to get Allison Williams more popular and well-known.
......and boy does it show. Despite not having a strong presence, an average singing voice, and a decent British accent; WIlliams bombs as Peter Pan. She literally has no energy or any depth. And you know what? I still have no idea who she is.
Ok before I go on I just want to say Christopher Walken is one of my all time favorite actors! Ok we got that? He was horrendous as Captain Hook. I think he was either high or drunk but he failed miserably.
I think Jim Carrey would've nailed it as Hook personally. Christian Borle was not on his A game as Smee or Mr. Darling. The talented Kelly O'Hara was so underused. The Lost Boys were good, but there were too many and they were waaaaaaaay to old and what the hell was wrong with their costumes.
The Natives were eh. Tiger Lilly was decent but I think they could've chosen someone better. The pirates all looked the same but they were ok (props to the pirates playing Noodler, Cecco, and Bill Jukes).
The crocodile was cool. The flying was awful. But it was entertaining. Bad but entertaining.
