Review of Perfect Creature (2007) by Atanas Y — 28 May 2007
This movie has a very nice dark mood, a quite original story and is well shot.
It's set in an alternative world in which vampires have formed a religious brother hood and serve humans (but still have a strange way to spawn). the city in which the movie is set seems to be somewhere in New Zealand, the Queen is the supreme authority and there are Zeppelins everywhere. I would really love to know more about this world :).
The cast is good, especially liked Leo Gregory as the mad one :).
The vampiric senses are shown very well too with the camera quickly zooming in and out as the vampire focuses them on a point.
Liked the fighting also, they don't use the nowadays omnipresent karate style and thats a great thing. don't get me wrong - I like karate, I just have a problem when it's used in every movie.
The only real weakness was the story, which although original and not bad at all could have been done better and maybe a bit more caracter development would be fine. well and that final fighting scene ... not very original that one ... drags the movie down a bit.
Anyway, a good movie worth watching.
