Review of Perfect Creature (2007) by Siarra F — 01 Dec 2008
A delicious steam punk setting and a world where vampires are mankind's saviours, this movie steers away from convention right from the start, chucking tradition out of the window. The writing is interesting and the teasingly unfolding story is a nice slow-cooker, with gripping and fresh characters.
The only thing to really go against the grain is that the actors seem to try their hardest to blend in with the murky, gray background of the set, and none of them seem to fully embrace their characters or have the charisma to pull it off.
Normally I'm not one for casting what-ifs, but this time I'm left wondering how Jonathan Rhys-Meyers's rumoured portrayal of Edgar would've worked.
