Review of Peppermint (2018) by Bryen L — 12 Sep 2018
This movie was excellent, mainly because of Jennifer Garner. You can feel her pain in every scene, especially the bluntly realistic ending. The action was intense and managed to not be too over the top, it was well-paced and you grow to genuinely empathize with Riley North's journey.
..and to truly hate the villains as well. It's a surprisingly fresh entry in this genre, and just like "Taken" it wouldn't have worked so well without a capable actor selling the part of a desperate parent as well as Garner.
Please don't listen to the critics; there's a reason there's a 75 point jump between critic and audience scores. "Peppermint" was an excellent action film with a grim emotional core, and I'm already planning on seeing it at least one more time before it leaves theatres.
