Review of Peeping Tom (1960) by Garry J — 18 Apr 2007
This works on many levels. It really weaves a whole dark, intuitively 'wrong' kind of atmosphere. Self-reflexive as well as an exploration of voyeurism, fetish and the unsettling phallic threat that the camera seems to have embodied.
In this film it's the camera(s) that are evil, the protaganist was almost incidental, but riverting in persona nonetheless.
