Review of Peeping Tom (1960) by Joel A — 23 Jan 2014
In 2013 we have seen all sorts of sensor bending evil with some truly horrible and horrifying films out there. Back in 1960 it was a very different story. Taboo's were Taboo for a reason, unspoken and fully censored.
Then along came Peeping Tom. It really was something new... something dangerous. I've always liked how uncomfortable the film makes the audience as we follow Mark Lewis, a man with many inner demons who's perverse views of right and wrong send him on the path of murder.
I love the pressure build and the slow burn tension this film creates. Even though it does show it's age and the performances are a little stilted - this psychological horror is a true classic in my eyes.
