Review of Peeping Tom (1960) by Lord N — 04 Aug 2010
Well, this film is a little messed up. I know some people consider this the British Psycho. I sort of disagree, but I can certainly see how some people would say that. I'm not sure how best to review this film as most of the things that I would say are heavily connected to the plot and as you all know, it isn't my style to reveal anything about the plot. I will say that the plot is pretty twisted though. I liked the acting in this film. This film could have easily been horrible. As a matter of fact, If it was made today, it would probably be rated something close to NC-17. it was pretty violent and in the case of the unedited version (which wasn't the one I watched) it had brief nudity in it. Even the unedited version was pretty brutal for a 1960's film. Overall, if you like semi-old horror, you should check it out. It is a decent film.
TRIVIA TIME: 1. Premiere voted this movie as one of "The 25 Most Dangerous Movies".
2. The scandal, which the movie aroused, destroyed the career of director Michael Powell.
3. The cameras in Mark Lewis' room include director Michael Powell's first film camera, a hand operated Eyemo, made by Bell and Howell, that he won in a competition.
