Review of Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) by Liz — 04 Feb 2011
A total riot! After watching Pee-Wee's quirky antics, you wonder if Mr Bean took a leaf from him, right down to the dress sense and spasmodic giggles. PWBA is thoroughly entertaining and fun because of its endearing characters (which may be annoying to some), funny dialogue, richly-imagined and vivid visuals, Tim Burton's sly dark humour and meticulousness to creating a warped world.
There are many standout comic scenes, with special mention to the exhilarating bicycle chase finale. For a debut, it is brazen stuff that earmarked Tim Burton as a wildly imaginative talent.
