Review of Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) by David P — 29 Nov 2012
Severely underrated by audiences. But this is a great way to start off the career of one of the most profitable directors in film history.
The film is about a man-boy who had his bike stolen. At first, he thought his lifelong nemesis Francis Buxton stole it, but his father told him know unknowingly when Pee Wee broke into the Buxton mansion. But Francis did steal it, but let it go to a "friend" once he found out Pee Wee will not give up the chase. Frantic, Pee Wee traveled across the West of the US, ran into strange and ramdom characters like the ex-com Mickey, the ghost Large Marge who was killed in the worst truck accident that anyone has seen, and Simone, whose giant boyfriend Andy was onto Pee Wee for a while. Yes, this is arguably one of the greatest comedies ever spawned on the earth. 4/4.
