Pee-Wee Herman is just weird enough and silly enough for this type of film to work. This is Tim Burton's first feature film and right out of the gate, his style of weirdness and use of Danny Elfman music are established. This is a slapstick road trip movie about Pee Wee searching for his beloved bike that was stolen. He meets some interesting characters along the way, some even weirder than him. Despite the silliness of the entire film, Pee Wee is a very likable character and Tim Burton makes a live action cartoon that is strange but fun to watch.
