Review of Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) by Scott M — 26 Mar 2015
Pee-wee's Big Adventure is a great movie that had it been directed by anyone else but Tim Burton would probably be awful. The thing about this movie is that it's goofy, silly fun that you can't help but enjoy.
The film is a ridiculous amount of fun and absolutely hillarious. Paul Reubens is great in the movie, the character of Pee Wee is so funny and charming, from his weird laugh to his strange house to the way he does things.
The film is just one wacky road trip with some very quirky people. One of my favourites was the escaped convict Mickey, him and pee wee's scenes together are great. The large Marge scene also came out of nowhere and was really funny, also Pee Wee's dream sequences are great.
The ending chase scene is absolutely hilarious and its great to see the countless movies he destroys. As a passionate cyclist I like seeing all the bike scenes and man Pee Wee's bike is absolutely great and funny.
I also think seeing the movie at the end is brillaint. Overall Pee Wee's big adventure is goofy, wacky, weird and quintessentially Tim Burton. See it if you haven't, it's one of the best comedies of the 1980's.
B+.
