Review of Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) by Brandon W — 25 Mar 2015
With this being Tim Burton's director debut, it's honestly the weirdest film that he has made, which is saying something from the other films he made. I never saw Pee-Wee's Playhouse, so I didn't know what to expect from the character himself, so after watching the movie, I definitely know why people love him.
Paul Reubens does an excellent job playing Pee-Wee and gets a lot of laughs from it. The plot is really silly, but that's all for the fun of it and it gets really weird when the movie keeps going.
The dream sequences goes into that Burton style and it's really good, even if it's weird. There's a lot of great moments in it, and the soundtrack by Danny Elfman is really catchy. The characters are very likeable, and it's interesting to see what Pee-Wee is going to do next.
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is an amazing movie that you don't need to watch the show in order to see the movie.
