Review of Pawn Sacrifice (2015) by Tatsuhito K — 14 Oct 2017
A solidly gripping (sports) drama anchored by Tobey Maguire's transfixing performance. Going into it I knew very little about Bobby Fischer, but after seeing the film I feel like I have a bit of knowledge of who he was and what he went through as his mental health gradually deteriorated.
Edward Zwick is a competent director and with the help of Steven Knight's script, he has yet again crafted a skillfully made and well-acted mainstream entertainment film. "Pawn Sacrifice" is a damn solid film and I enjoyed it a lot!
