Review of Patton (1970) by Allen H — 30 Apr 2010
I was a bit scared when I saw the opening sequence, because the speech was so ridiculous I could not decide whether I was supposed to laugh or take it seriously... Actually it's difficult to know whether you should hate Patton, laugh at him, or if you're supposed to admire him.
But in the end I have to say this was a brilliant film. You don't really need to decide how you feel about the guy, it's just a great war film, a great depiction of an unusual character, with extremely enjoyable dialogue and great acting.
