Review of Paths of Glory (1957) by Ben H — 01 Jan 2011
One of the greatest war movies of all time. It's got some of the most hair-raising camera-work Kubrick ever used. Douglas is phenomenal. Nothing about this movie is sugarcoated or drawn out, it's short and to the point.
Kubrick had it right in '57, but damn-near erased all his progress thirty years later with Full Metal Jacket.
