Review of Passion in the Desert (1997) by Summer L — 30 Jul 2008
Balzac's work translates well into English -- though to film, it might be lost in translation. However, as a standalone film, I think it works incredibly well. The cinematography is gorgeous and the concept is intriguing.
However, before taking a rendezvous with this film, be sure that you can focus and intelligently decipher undercurrent messages. Also, pre-screen before breaking out as a "movie night" film.
