Review of Passion in the Desert (1997) by Caitlin M — 30 Jul 2008
Passion in the Desert gives a stunning and overall well-executed message about man and nature. The wild is both foreign and fearful, as Simoon is to Augustin in their first encounter. But it is also beautiful and mesmerizing.
Man, possesive by nature, cannot help but covet what he admires. When he deludes himself into believing that he can exercise his will on what is wild and free, it is only a matter of time before nature--sometimes tragically--reminds him of his folly.
And it is not only man who pays the price for his error.
