Review of Passengers (2016) by Dc127 — 17 May 2017
My fiancee and I are both big fans of Chris Pratt. We are mixed on Jennifer Lawrence. We thought this movie would be fun, with the two of them racing to save the ship. There are only four characters in the entire film.
Pratt, Lawrence, Michael Sheen, and Laurence Fishburne. The latter two have modest roles in the film. The plot to save the ship encompasses only the last thirty minutes of the movie. The other 1.5 hours deals with the Pratt and Lawrence having to deal with being the only two people awake on the ship.
It is . . . droll. I felt that I was sitting through the 90 years of their journey just watching the film. There are some interesting moral questions raised, but the film was just flat. The production level and filmwork are quite good, the story is just terrible.
I just wanted them to die so the film would be over. I didn't care. Lawrence in particular is sort of a spoiled, rich, **** of a character. Take a pass on watching this film.
