Review of Paradise Now (2005) by Joshua H — 13 Nov 2010
I've seen my fair share of " I wanna blow myself up for Allah" movies and they always do a fairly nice job of painting a human side of their plight, and give a back story for the justification murder. But what these films fail to do is beg the question is the Sun Tzu' THE ART OF WAR out of print in the Middle East, cus pretty sure there is no chapter on winnining war by blowing up a Taco Bell with you inside said Taco Bell. Nobody brought this up in the movie, but does 'remote detonator' translate in to Arabic?
The movie is hard to relate with if the viewer fails to accept the cause and premise not to mention all the forced symbolism. VERDICT: Watch FOUR LIONS instead. Paradise Now is too bleak to be entertaining, too emotional to be objectively informative, and too predictable and cliche to be profound.
