Review of Paper Towns (2015) by Kevin A — 24 Jul 2015
Paper Towns is pointless to a fault. High School is again the setting for a supposed coming of age story that serves no useful purpose. Fortune cookie lines such as "you have to get lost in order to find yourself" riddle this film.
The acting is forced for the most part. Nat Wolf as Quinton, or Q as he's called turns in a nice leading effort and his two best buds are enjoyable as well. Cara Delevingne plays Margo with little conviction.
She formerly modeled and is trying to start a film career-good luck with that. She comes across as conceited, aloof and psychically above everyone else; she is not. Halston Sage is the HS hottie Lacey and she is lucious to look at, and surprises as the story evolves into being a complete person, not just the HS stunner.
Overall, the film simply lacks a raison d' etra, i.e why was this written let alone made into a film? Don't waste your time or money so just don't go as the film disappoints on all levels.
