Review of Paper Towns (2015) by Tony D — 27 Oct 2016
"That's what I'm going to think when I'm eating my lucky charms with a Black Santa spoon." Fun coming-of-age road movie about three goofy teen boys' fumbling attempts to woo the girls of their prom dreams senior year.
Our POV character hopefully seeks to restore his relationship with the adventurous girl he's loved since childhood. The cleverest of the three builds a believable relationship with a much hipper girl who scares him a bit.
A third, hopelessly dopey character stumbles unbelievably into the arms of a heart sick young woman who just wants to be taken seriously. There is mystery, there is a quest, small town & high school rituals shatter.
It's all quite wistful.
