Review of Paper Heart (2009) by Ryan M — 05 Dec 2009
Charlyne Yi is ceaselessly charming in this documentary/scripted tale of chasing the idea of love across America. The documentary bits are the strongest as Yi tries to put together a working definition of true love that makes sense to her skeptical mind.
The elements where Yi's real life begin to overlap the film-making process are a little harder to appreciate because the film never decides to let the audience in on when the documentary ends and the scripting begins.
