Review of Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) by Jason S — 22 Mar 2018
The original was a great movie with bad previews... this is a meh movie with bad previews... The plot is loose with major plot holes, characters are not deep or developed, returning personalities are dull, robot designs are not impressive, Kaiju are hardly present and the scenery is very very bland.
It is a typical fall short sequal you probably should have expected without Del Toro at the helm. The pacing is also haphazard as the plot itself. It's like a lame teen fiction version of the original.
Comparisons to Transformer movies are probably spot on. Charlie Day was even quite boring and rather annoying as bad plot device. You can give this one a pass really, unless you really really let go of any expectations.
