The movie is all about "funny" one-liners and poorly executed CGI. Boyega might look like a young Denzel Washington but he acts like Eddie Murphy in "The Adventures of Pluto Nash", and Eastwood is even worse.
If Del Toro would directed this one, maybe it wouldn't be as redundant as it is.
