Review of Outbreak (1995) by Valentina N — 19 Apr 2012
I think it's important to give a reason for not liking something before dismissing it outright, so as far as films about pandemics go, I rate 'Outbreak' 4 stars compared to the 1 star I gave 'Contagion.
' The film is closely based on a non-fiction book called 'The Hot Zone' by Richard Preston describing real events between 1967 and 1993 when a virus known as Ebola virus crossed continents and broke out in a house of imported monkeys in the densely populated area of Washington DC.
I first read the book in 1994 and it still chills me to the bone. And that's why I prefer it over this other feeble attempt. But as with everything in life, you need to find out for yourself and make up your own mind from there.
