Review of Out for Justice (1991) by David G — 12 Jan 2010
A pretty chilled out but still hard-hitting Steven Seagal action flick. No explosions, no huge gunfights, no ludicrous plot, just a simple story which sees the ponytailed one, well, out for justice - badda bing badda booming his way around Brooklyn as lean, mean Italian-American cop Gino Felino, searching for the one responsible for his partners murder.
He may not be blowing up everything in sight but Seagal still gets his hands dirty with some nifty action scenes including a great sequence where he shakes things up in a seedy bar, strutting about, bullying the goons, demanding information and kicking ass.
Criticise him all you want but you have to admit that in his 80's/90's prime, Seagal could be immensely entertaining. Out for Justice isn't a great movie by any means but the subtlety is a breath of fresh air when you consider that this was 1991 and the s-word was pretty much taboo.
