Review of Our Souls at Night (2017) by Tim M — 17 Oct 2017
Robert Redford and Jane Fonda reunite in the authentic 'Our Souls at Night', the story of a budding romance between two widows. It's fun to watch Redford and Fonda given freedom to work. The chemistry between the two is natural.
Unfortunately, the movie is not without its flaws. Matthias Schoenaerts is shoehorned in as Fonda's son and I had one minor pet peeve with the sound editing as there is a scene at a softball game and on a cut away the ping that should be here on the metal bats they are playing with is confused for the crack of a wood bat you'd here at a professional baseball game.
It's always great seeing Bruce Dern, even a a bit roll. He leads a sewing circle that I could have watched more of. It's simple , yet exceedingly lovely. Final Score: 7.5/10.
