Review of Orpheus (1950) by Grant W — 05 Nov 2010
Perhaps fittingly, I kept falling asleep and waking back up (I think) as I rewatched Orpheus after a many-year break. Cocteau's dreamscape follows the title character through the mirror to romance death herself before re-embracing life and living.
Great cinematic moments with hypnotic very special effects. No excess is absurd, indeed.
