Review of Origin: Spirits of the Past (2006) by James B — 09 Jan 2010
Animation: beautiful. Sound: superb. Music: entrancing. Story: Okay. Nothing too fanciful here but not horrible. Character development... Well... That's where the movie falls down. None of the characters are really memorable.
This is no Hayao Miyazaki film where the protagonist's growth overcomes life's obstacles. Instead we never really get to know any person in the film at all and we're treated to a hero who's half his lines are just the name of another character.
