Review of Orange County (2002) by Johnny T — 22 Feb 2011
This genial comedy is as unambitious and, at times, as funny as its high concept. Even if the whole of Orange County is less than the sum of its parts, Jack Black is not the only thing to like about this movie. A feebly pleasant surprise: It's not as cheap, loud and sleazy as it might have been, but it's also too eagerly well-meaning and indistinct to really stick. It's a piece of very entertaining, inoffensive fluff.
VERDICT: "Full Price" - My second highest rating (Positive to Mixed reaction). This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theater to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent.
