Review of Open Range (2003) by Shaun S — 05 Feb 2008
Up until the last ten minutes of this movie, I would have given it three and a half stars. Good performances, passable writing and a very gritty gunfight. Please - Do yourself a favour and stop watching this film right after the shootout.
Annette Bening is a fine actress, but even she can't get through the brutal dialogue assigned to her character in the end. It's almost like the scriptwriter's seven-year-old niece took over for the last five pages.
A seven-year-old-niece who hasn't been quite right since that fall down the stairs.
