Oh dear. Strip away the lavish production values and the admittedly great performances of Duvall and Costner and you are left with a very slight movie indeed. Tortuously sentimental at times it is like watching a Hallmark movie or The Waltons.
An unsatisfying two and a quarter hours that probably isn't worth the effort.
