Review of Only God Forgives (2013) by Lori B — 24 Oct 2013

I cannot recommend this film really, because I am entirely sure that half the people who see this will hate it. It pulls in influences from Shakespeare to Cinema du Look to Tarantino to Scorsese with a big blob of Oedipus thrown in for good measure.

And don't forget David Lynch! Many will find this to be a strangely slow and trancelike for such an ultra-violent gore fest. But somehow it worked for me. I gave it 4 stars here because I don't like it as much as Drive.

But I like it. It's definitely interesting.
