A bit bewildered by the backlash, and the "style over substance" argument.
I'm not always looking for the same thing when I watch a movie (and it doesn't hurt to know what you're getting in to).
I prefer refn's "style" over what a lot of filmmakers think passes for substance.
Immerse me in a refn film any day.
And I didn't hate the story either.
