Review of Only Angels Have Wings (1939) by Brian S — 17 May 2010
Honestly a rather bland film with a story that offers nothing particularly unique. Jean Arthur is the film's standout, showing quite a bit of depth and subtle humour. Grant is surprisingly not his usual charming debonair self.
a few quality moments of suspense, but no one defining characteristic (adventure, drama, comedy, etc) really pulled me in. an enjoyable film from some of the truest Hollywood mainstays, but it really just struck me as average.
