Review of Only Angels Have Wings (1939) by Ben S — 24 Feb 2017
Jean Arthur is Bonnie, an itinerant entertainer that falls for a small time airline owner (Cary Grant) in a South American town. The airline makes a dangerous mail run over a mountain range, which has such a high mortality rate the pilots become inured to the prospect of death.
Bonnie is initially repelled by their seeming callousness but eventually accepts it as a way to deal with a harsh reality. A remarkably relaxed and easy-going movie given its dark premise.
