Review of One Missed Call (2003) by Scott L — 01 Jan 2008
Miike goes mainstream for this one... no corpse-raping in this flick. It's a fairly straight-forward Japanese horror film complete with long-haired ghost girl. There's no new territory here and I didn't find any of the scary bits scary at all.
The premise is interesting enough and they could've gone somewhere good with it - unfortunately, the sequel is so terrible the series took a nose-dive rather than end up a decent horror series franchise. Perhaps Hollywood can improve and not make the same mistake.
