Review of One Hour Photo (2002) by Arnika V — 19 Jul 2009
This was actually pretty good. I think it could have been a bit more creepy but it was still quite gripping at times. The majority of the film is quite mundane and slow paced, but the film still remains interesting, and in a way it helps the audience to feel emotionally attached to the characters.
Robin Williams is surprisingly brilliant in this. His character is so weird, and it's actually uncomfortable watching him, but he's such a nice bloke and it's easy to understand why he acts like that, so you just end up feeling sorry for him.
This leads to quite a strange ending, obviously Robin Williams character has a few problems, but he isn't your usual sick and twist psychopath, and there may be a hint that something went on in his childhood, so this just makes you feel more connected to the 'bad guy' than the victims.
It's not the most spectacular thriller, but still quite good.
