Review of Ondine (2010) by Steve S — 23 Sep 2010
*** (out of four).
An intoxicating and charming little tale that is well directed by Neil Jordan. The plotting is a bit lethargic, but the performances from Colin Farrell, Alicja Bachleda, and Dervia Kirwan lift it up.
Farrell is a down and out Irish fisherman who one day catches a young woman in his fishing net. His luck begins to change as he wonders if he is a mysterious creature from mythology.
The tone of the film helps it from being too sweet.
