Review of Ondine (2010) by Kathleen P — 24 Oct 2010
Ondine, which was listed as sci-fi drama, ended up being just a weird drama. It was kind of boring and the most interesting part of the experience was trying to figure out how it was going to somehow turn into a science fiction (which it never did.
.. not even fantasy). I thought that the scenes of the Irish coast were gorgeous, the shots were strangely done and managed to make a really pretty girl look ugly and creepy at times (maybe this has some kind of significance if I knew more about movie making but it was lost on me), the characters were altogether uninteresting with the exception of the little girl (the main guy and girl are each very sexy but somehow manage to be boring, boring characters with no chemistry), the sound of the dialog was too subdued and very hard to hear, and what humor was included was worthy of a couple silent chuckles.
Altogether, this was not the worst movie I have ever seen, but it lacked the magic and mystery I expected for it to be a good movie.
