Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Jeffrey M — 29 May 2011
Everyone knows of the fantastic Dollars trilogy, but Sergio Leone's absolute masterpiece is Once Upon a Time in the West. It's a masterpiece deserving of being called a masterpiece, ranking along Rio Bravo as one of the greatest Westerns of all time.
The film, made almost entirely of references to earlier classic Westerns (such as the great High Noon), features a signature Morricone score, violent bursts of action, and a phenomenal cast headlined by Henry Fonda.
