Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by Anoop K — 28 Apr 2010
An inspirational tale elevated to a special cinema by a scintillating performance by Marlon Brando. The film chronicles the life of a rigger in a shipyard ruled by corrupt officers who are working as a mafia.
Brando's character starts out as a passive member of the mafia, but later finds himself facing against them. Spotless direction, even by today's standards is commendable, but again it's Brando who stands out.
Great stuff.
