Review of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) by Adam E — 21 Feb 2009
George Lazenby's only outing as Bond may just be the soppiest of the series. Way too much time is spent with Bond frollicking happily on holiday with Diana Rigg and when the action comes in, it's a disappointment.
Lazenby proves to be incredibly clumsy in all departments: acting, presence, charisma to name a few. But even his miscast is something of a crime, it's the film itself which is too ridiculous and corny to take seriously for a second or even truly enjoy.
The unexpected ending could have been a terrific twist if it had been handled properly by Lazenvy and the director. Instead, On Her Majesty's... remains a cheesy lazy-sunday-afternoon watch, but a Bond film not worth remembering.
