Review of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) by Saban E — 08 Sep 2011
Since Casino Royale was released, James Bond fans having been clamoring over Daniel Craig's dark portrayal of the character. OHMSS for the most part gets negative reviews for George Lazenby's role as James Bond. I cannot however understand this, as the more I watch this, Lazenby has the wit, good looks, and toughness that the character needs and is a more realistic character, which the last few Connery movies seemed to need more of. I find it hard to believe that someone who can love Craig's portrayal cannot see the similarities to Lazenby's character.
It's unfortunate that Lazenby only did one bond film. It would have been interesting to see where he would have went with the character and perhaps if he would have gotten a better perception over time.
There is no doubt to me that OHMSS is in the top five all time james bond films, and considering to date there have been 22 of them with a 23rd on the way, thats pretty good if I do say so myself.
