Review of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) by Alex R — 25 Jun 2010
Wow. I really think people say this is the "best Bond" to try and be different. This was awful. In fact, if the name "Bond" and the handful of familiar characters had not been involved, this would have been forgotten years ago.
Bad acting, awful script, and force-feeding the audience that Lazenby is Bond by having him look at old Q gadgets and a weak montage of bad music in the opening sequence. He may have been able to get better, but Lazenby is really not a good actor. And love how Blofeld is now American.
About the only interesting thing was finding out Bond's family motto, which was fun. But the "Bond gets married and his wife dies" is a great character moment that is completely wasted in this film.
Dated and bad.
